Staff Parish Relations Committee
The SPRC builds and maintains a positive relationship between church staff and the congregation.
– Works with Pastor to fulfill missional, legal and ethical responsibilities for our DFMC clergy and staff
– Recommends compensation/benefits/etc. and other financial matters to the finance committee and church council
– Ensures that staffing levels are adequate to achieve our DFMC mission
– Responsible for securing, development and retention of DFMC clergy and staff.
The Staff Parish Relations Committee, which is essentially the Human Resources Dept DFMC, works to help our Staff and Parish work together in being and becoming God’s very best in all we do.

Engage Ministry
The Engage Team is charged with Congregation engagement. As a team we fully support our congregation members who are engaged with Dickson First Methodist and all of its ministry programs. Support from prayers, visits, phone calls, cards, and texts. As our brother and sisters in Christ we want to show you how much you are valued at Dickson First Methodist.

DFMC Preschool Advisory Board
1) The Preschool Advisory Board works to maintain a growing and working relationship between the Preschool and the general membership at DFMC.
2) The Board members bring their knowledge and skills to assist the Preschool Director and the staff in preparing the children for their entry into kindergarten. Some of the Board members’ duties listed in the Preschool Handbook are as follows: the board members interview and hire the director, they assist in budget development and oversight including setting director and staff salaries, they assist with setting yearly tuition, they assure implementation of DFMC Safe Sanctuary Policy, they attend Preschool programs and events, and they attend regularly scheduled meetings as well as maintain email contact.

D1Youth Ministry
The D1Youth Ministry at DFMC is open for all 6th through 12th grade students. We offer mission work, trips, retreats, concerts, fellowship, and year-round Bible-based lessons.

Ministry Team
The Ministry Team works to organize and coordinate programs and activities for the DFMC congregation and the Dickson community, utilizing the church campus to promote God’s love through fellowship and outreach activities.

VIM DFMC Guatemala Mission Team
Our ministry work is multifaceted. Our team provides urgently needed School Construction, Medical, Dental, Pharmacological, Vision, Women’s/Girl’s Education services, and the distribution of Children’s Bibles to rural communities in Guatemala. Our goals include involving the local community and school staff to foster ownership and the ability to continue improvements after our team exits the project. These services could not be provided without financial support and donations from team members, church members, and the local community.
Members: Norris Allen was the original organizer/leader of the Guatemala Mission Trip for many years. The team members change annually to ensure support for planned services. Many team members are very committed to the Guatemala Mission and have participated for many years. The team includes DFMC members, local community members, and surrounding counties. Team members are totally responsible for their travel and personal expenses.

Mission & Outreach Team
Our Mission and Outreach Team was created to help Dickson First Methodist Church put our faith into action within our local Dickson community and beyond. Using our team members’ diverse backgrounds, we strive to address needs of all kinds and help provide opportunities for our congregation to act as the hands and feet of Christ, while guiding our church’s efforts as effectively as possible. We will be actively seeking needs and service opportunities to address, so we encourage everyone to let one of our team members know if you have an idea or concern for us to look into. We are continually exploring new initiatives and ways to get involved that our team will be presenting, and we look forward to working alongside our DFMC family to make an impact in our community and around the world!

Children’s Ministry Council
The Children’s Ministry Council oversees and supports the spiritual growth and development of the children within the church. Our goal is to create engaging and meaningful programs, ensuring that children feel loved, welcomed, and nurtured in their faith journey. By providing a safe and supportive environment, the Children’s Council Ministry plays a vital role in shaping the next generation of believers and fostering a strong foundation for lifelong discipleship.

Discipleship Team
The DFMC Discipleship Team is a newly formed team that will consider ways to create new disciples for Christ and to enhance, grow and strengthen those in their current discipleship journey. The team will focus on new and exciting ways to foster and present discipleship opportunities.

Finance Team
Our committee is responsible for overseeing DFMC’s Finances. Each year we develop and recommend an annual budget for the Church based on input from each of the groups requiring funding and our best estimate of the amount of contributions we expect for the upcoming year. This is presented to the Church Council for final approval. During the year we monitor income and expenses compared to the budget and make any recommendations or take any actions to assure financial stability and to maximize the use of our funds for the betterment of God’s Church. It also provides accounting for all of our ministries and helps the church plan and budget for its major expenditures and outreach and missions while working within the framework of the approved budget. The committee also manages the Restricted Accounts that receive funds designated for specific uses.

Trustee Team
The Trustees committee is tasked with oversight of the DFMC campus. This includes buildings, grounds and fixed and moveable equipment. Trustees coordinate and manage building upgrades; major and minor repairs to buildings; preventive maintenance, repairs, and replacement of equipment; and maintenance and upkeep of grounds. Trustees develop policies and procedures providing guidance for building and equipment use by church members and affiliated organizations as well as use by non-affiliated organizations. Working in tandem with other DFMC committees and teams, Trustees strive to provide a clean, safe, and welcoming facility for use by all of God’s people.

Church Council
This leadership team represents the day-to-day, month-to-month functions of the church’s Annual Charge Conference and remains as the official oversight and executive branch of Charge Conference between meetings. The team reflects on God’s call to the local congregation for ministries which help all to actively live out their faith in and love for God as Christ’s Church. The team initiates planning, establishes goals, implements action plans and evaluates effectiveness for congregational ministries via the Ministry Lead Team along with teams focused specifically on areas like Worship, Discipleship, Outreach, Witness & Congregational Care.

Casseroles for Christ/Visitation Team
Our aim is to visit the sick and shut ins who are no longer able to attend worship services. We deliver food where needed as a token of the church’s love, to uplift our brothers and sisters in Christ.

Nominations/Leadership Development Team
While this team works alongside other admin teams like Finance, Staff-Parish and Trustees, this group focuses on the gifts and talents of each lay person. With our DFMC mission and vision guiding their work, these leaders consider needs in our congregation and community, and strives to help members find their place in helping. They will periodically assess leadership roles, and on an as-needed basis, will identify and equip those who serve and those who lead.

Worship Team
This team works with all worship-related teams and staff (e.g., music, preaching, A/V, Communion, liturgists, etc.) to ensure that weekly Worship services (9 & 11, Sundays) align well with our DFMC mission and vision. The team will plan, prepare and conduct weekly worship, but also partners with other key Teams (such as Engage and/or Discipleship, etc.) so that outcomes of all teams work toward building the Kingdom of Heaven on earth and beyond.
